While wandering through the streets of Stone Town, I paused to photograph this beautiful door ...

‍

As I finished, a shop lady nearby pointed down an alley and said, 'there's an even nicer door this way.' I usually avoid following such suggestions to steer clear of hawkers, but this time I thought, why not?

‍

‍

I ventured down the alley, passing more doors, none of which really stood out ... until ...

‍

‍

Just incredible. Two young boys were sitting across from this door, meticulously sketching its carved details.

‍

‍

I quickly snapped this photo and returned to the lady's shop to thank her. I handed her some money, saying thank you for sharing about the door. She laughed and initially refused the money, genuinely happy just to share the information.

‍

It reminded me how we are social beings, hardwired to share and connect. I'm so glad I didn't ignore her.
